# Go live on your own domain

> Verify a domain you own with one DNS record, then send your links to it.

Add your domain and one DNS record. Once it is verified, every link you make can send people straight to your own site.

## Adding a domain

To add a domain:

1. Click **Domains** in the sidebar.
2. Click **Add domain**.
3. Keep **Website** selected and enter your domain, like yourshop.com.
4. Click **Continue**.

Your domain shows as **Pending** until you verify it. While it’s pending you can already set up tracking, pages and the Board; only new links to that domain wait.

## Letting your AI agent verify it

If you use Claude, ChatGPT or Gemini, in the app or the terminal, it can verify your domain for you.

1. Click the gear on your domain. **With your agent** is selected.
2. Connect your agent if you haven’t yet.
3. Copy the prompt, like **Verify yourshop.com in Link Studio.**, and send it to your agent.

Your agent adds the record for you and checks it. How it does that depends on where your domain’s DNS lives:

| Where your DNS lives | What your agent does |
| --- | --- |
| Cloudflare or Vercel | Claude Code, Codex and other agents that run commands sign in with that company’s own command line. A sign-in page opens in your browser: approve it once, and the agent adds the record. |
| AWS Route 53 or DigitalOcean | If their command line is already signed in on your computer, the agent uses it. |
| Squarespace, GoDaddy, Namecheap and others | If your agent can use your browser, it opens the right DNS page and adds the record there. |

If none of that is possible, your agent tells you exactly what to add and where. Working in your site’s code, it can add the meta tag instead. Link Studio keeps checking by itself, even with Link Studio closed, and shows **Verified** as soon as it finds the record.

> **Tip:** Your agent never needs your DNS password or a key. It only adds the one record, through a sign-in you approve or access you already gave it.

## Verifying with a DNS record

Verifying proves the domain is yours. The DNS record is the quickest way.

1. Click the gear on your domain to show its DNS setup.
2. Under **Verify with**, click **DNS record**.
3. Sign in to the company you bought your domain from, like Cloudflare, GoDaddy or Namecheap.
4. Add a new record using the values Link Studio shows you, then save it.

| Type | Name | Value | TTL |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| TXT | _link-studio | The value shown in Link Studio | Auto |

> **Note:** For a subdomain like go.yourshop.com, the name gets the subdomain added, like `_link-studio.go`. Copy it exactly as Link Studio shows it.

Link Studio keeps checking and turns the domain **Verified** as soon as it finds the record. Click **Check now** to check straight away.

> **Tip:** If Link Studio recognizes where your domain lives, it shows a button that opens the right page there for you.

## Verifying with a meta tag

Can’t change your DNS? Pick **Meta tag** under **Verify with** and paste the tag into the `<head>` of your homepage. It looks like this:

```
<meta name="link-studio-verification" content="YOUR_CODE">
```

Shopify, Webflow, Wix and similar builders all have a place for this, usually in the site’s custom code settings.

## Sending links to your domain

Once verified, your domain appears under **Your domains** in the **Goes to** menu when you create a link. Pick it, then type the page.

## FAQs

### How long does Link Studio take to verify my domain?

Usually a few minutes. New DNS records can take a little while to appear. Link Studio checks pending domains by itself: every 30 seconds for the first hour, then less often for a week. While an owner or admin has Link Studio open, it checks every few seconds, and you can click **Check now** to check straight away.

### What if Link Studio says my domain record is not found?

Check the record name. Use the exact **Name** Link Studio shows, like `_link-studio`, or `_link-studio.go` for go.yourdomain.com. Some DNS providers add your domain to the name for you, so leave it off. If your provider added it twice, Link Studio spots that and tells you the name to change it to.

### Can I add more than one domain to Link Studio?

Yes, on any paid Link Studio plan. Starter includes one domain or app, so a domain and an app can’t both be added on Starter. See [Plans and limits](https://linkstudio.link/docs/plans-and-limits/).

### How do I remove a domain from Link Studio?

In Link Studio, click **⋯** on the domain in **Domains** and choose **Remove domain**.
