# Find where people drop off

> Lay out your pages in order, add Conversion blocks and see which step loses the most people.

Most visitors never buy. This walkthrough shows you exactly which step loses them, so you know which page to fix first.

## Before you start

- [Page tracking](https://linkstudio.link/docs/page-tracking/) on your website, so each page counts visitors.
- A [conversion](https://linkstudio.link/docs/conversions/) for the moment you care about, like Purchase.

## Step 1 | Put your pages on the Board in order

1. Open your Board and click **Pages** in the toolbar.
2. Add **Homepage**, **Product page**, **Checkout** and **Purchase**.
3. Line them up from left to right in the order people go through them.

## Step 2 | Connect them

Press **L** for the Connect tool and drag from each card to the next: Homepage to Product page, Product page to Checkout, Checkout to Purchase.

> **Tip:** New to lines? See [Connecting cards](https://linkstudio.link/docs/connecting-cards/).

## Step 3 | Add a Conversion block between each step

1. Click **Blocks** and add a **Conversion** block.
2. Remove the line between two cards, then connect the first card into the block and the block into the second card.
3. Do the same for each pair of steps.

> **Tip:** Only care about the last step? Put one Conversion block right after Purchase instead. With nothing after it, it shows the rate from the step before Purchase.

## Step 4 | Read the rates

Each block shows what share of people made it to the next step. The block with the lowest number is where you lose the most people.

- A low rate from Homepage to Product page often means people can’t find what they came for.
- A low rate from Checkout to Purchase often points at price, shipping or the payment form.

## Step 5 | Save it as a funnel

Measure the same steps as a funnel to see the exact number of people at each step and how many dropped off.

> **Figure:** The checkout funnel in Analytics
>
> A funnel from Homepage to Order confirmed: 100%, 47%, 20% and 13%, with 13% made it through

Follow the steps in [Measuring a funnel](https://linkstudio.link/docs/measuring-a-funnel/) to add it to your Analytics board and watch it over time.

## Step 6 | Check each source

Pick one source at a time in **All sources** at the top of the Board. The Conversion blocks then show the rates for the people that source brought, so you see whether one ad or creator loses more people than the rest. See [Picking sources](https://linkstudio.link/docs/live-map/#sources).

> **Note:** Fix one step at a time, then check the same blocks a week later to see if the rate went up.

## FAQs

### How do I find which page of my website loses the most customers?

Put your pages on the Link Studio Board in the order people go through them, connect them and add a Conversion block between each step. The block with the lowest share is the step where you lose the most people.

### What does a low checkout to purchase rate mean?

In Link Studio, a low rate from Checkout to Purchase often points at price, shipping or the payment form. A low rate from Homepage to Product page often means people can’t find what they came for.

### What do I need before Link Studio can show where people drop off?

Two things: [page tracking](https://linkstudio.link/docs/page-tracking/) on your website, so each page counts visitors, and a [conversion](https://linkstudio.link/docs/conversions/) in Link Studio for the moment you care about, like Purchase.
